My Right Hand Man - Casey Bennetto from the CD release of Keating! The Musical Author's notes: "Delivered by Bob Hawke as the current PM at the beginning of the show. It seemed a natural fit to take Hawke in a beer-barrel waltz direction, and he was not without the showman’s urge either, so he was well-suited to beat the drum and cry “roll up” at the start. In the Belvoir version, as rendered by the skilful Terry Serio, the song had a long talked intro – the equivalent of a nightclub patter intro, as Hawke came through the audience. It was a good idea, and Terry did it well, but I’m not sure I don’t still prefer Bob bounding onto stage and beginning the tale. The demo, as with all the KEATING! ones, is pretty rudimentary." - July 2010
