Level 22 CPD - Keeping the Cat in the Bag: Preventing damaging disclosures with injunctions

When a client is faced with the imminent publication of defamatory material, a breach of privacy or a disclosure of confidential information, the possibility of suing for damages is likely to be cold comfort, because the harm will have already been done. Most clients would prefer that the cat was not let out of the bag in the first place. This CPD will consider the extent to which injunctive relief is available to restrain the publication of information, and the limits on the availability of such relief. It will consider the availability of injunctive relief in defamation, injurious falsehood, breach of confidence and serious invasion of privacy.
