On 9 December 2025, stakeholders from government, the private sector, civil society, development partners, academia, and youth leaders convened in Nairobi to mark International Anti-Corruption Day 2025 under the global theme Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity. In this keynote address, Judy Njino, Executive Director of the United Nations Global Compact Network Kenya, highlighted the disproportionate impact of corruption on young people and underscored the critical role youth must play as leaders, innovators, and guardians of integrity. Drawing on Kenya’s demographic reality, she called for collective action to dismantle systems that reward connections over competence and to place young people at the centre of anti-corruption efforts. Her address emphasised the role of the private sector in promoting ethical business practices, creating integrity-driven career pathways for youth, and leveraging technology to prevent and detect corruption. It also called on government, businesses, civil society, development partners, and academia to work together to safeguard whistleblowers, strengthen accountability, and nurture ethics as a core competency. The event brought together other key leaders including Hon. Salim Mvurya, Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, the Creative Economy and Sports, representatives from the State Department for Justice, Human Rights and Constitutional Affairs, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) led by Dr. David Oginde, and members of the Kenya Leadership Integrity Forum. As Kenya looks to the future, the message was clear: when young people rise against corruption, the nation rises with them.
