A heat system could change everything in Space Engineers 2 for the better. Here's how. ▶ Previous Video - Shields & Survivability: • Space Engineers 2: Shields and Combat // I... ▶ Vote for the Heat Feature Request: https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengi... ▶ Join the Discord (Community events inbound): / discord ▶ Follow me on the Steam Workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/id/diggrok... In this video, I break down a complete concept for a vanilla heat management system in Space Engineers 2, inspired by community feedback, Reddit polls, and existing Space Engineers heat mods. Heat is a massive part of real aerospace engineering, yet SE1 ignores it entirely—while almost every other space game includes heat buildup, radiators, overheating systems, and heat-based combat balance. With SE2 still in development, now is the perfect time to discuss how a simple, performance-friendly heat system could work in the base game! I cover how Radiators and Heat Sinks (Thermal Batteries) could form the core cooling blocks for managing heat in Space Engineers 2, how “Heat Units” could be tracked through a lightweight data system, and how modules could overheat, shut down, or take damage without adding any heavy simulation. We also explore combat implications like heat-signature stealth, targeting cooling subsystems, and preventing “turret spam” or “reactor bricks.” It can also be a great balance to shields if they're included in SE2. I also run through optional future blocks—such as Heat Recyclers, Water Flush Cooling, Air Vent cooling, and Steam Turbines—plus fun gameplay ideas like jettisoning overheated heat sinks, environmental influence, and overheating hand tools which can help prevent hydromanning. This video is built on feedback from the community, Discord discussions, and the growing support behind Keen’s existing SE2 heat management feature request. If you want Space Engineers 2 to have immersive cooling systems, realistic heat buildup, glowing radiators, and deeper engineering gameplay, this breakdown shows exactly how a simple, balanced, low-performance heat system could work. 0:00 Intro 1:01 Prep & Goals 2:19 Why Heat? 3:59 Cooling Blocks 6:44 Tracking Heat 10:26 Safety Shutoff 12:00 Environment 12:51 Shields 13:31 Combat Balance 14:41 Optional Blocks 18:07 Additional Notes 21:02 May Clang be with you ADDITIONAL REFERENCES: ▶ @Spacedock video on Radiators: • Radiators In Realistic Sci-Fi (And Why You...
