What stood out most during this event was the energy and friendliness of the exhibitors — many company representatives were smiling, waving, and welcoming as I walked by. I’ve attended several trade shows over the past year, and none were as openly friendly and welcoming as the vendors at this 50th SURF EXPO. Many appeared genuinely happy to be there and proud to showcase their catalogs and products. I do want to be transparent with viewers: about one-fifth of the way into the walk, I began experiencing significant back pain, along with increasing leg and foot numbness. The discomfort continued to worsen as the walk went on, requiring me to stop, sit, or lean against walls at times to rest. While it may have been smarter to finish filming on a second day, I pushed through and completed the entire show floor walk on day one.
