Vismaya accused Kiran Kumar had been terminated from Asst. Motor Vehicle post of Motor Vehicle Department, informed Antony Raju, Kerala Minister for Transports on Friday. Earlier he was suspended from the post during the initial phase of investigation on June 22 as per the case registered by Kollam Sooranad Police. The Minister said that in the departmental inquiry, the accused had been proven guilty of the charges of abetment of suicide and hence he was being permanently removed from the post. He also added that in the 1960s Kerala Civil Service Rulebook there is rule in the code of conduct in 93 (E), wherein an employee is prohibited from demanding or receiving dowry. He said that Kiran would not even get a pension due to this. He criticized Kiran’s atrocious act to be anti-feminist, anti-social and a serious violation of gender equality. The government has also directed the investigation team to complete the probe in 45 days. Vismaya (24), the wife of the accused, was found dead at Kiran's house in Sasthamcotta in Kollam on June 21. She committed suicide due to the incessant abuse from her husband in relation to dowry. The deceased’s parents had alleged that she was murdered by Kiran as he used to subject her to domestic violence in the past. This is the first time in history that a government employee is being terminated from service due to dowry crime. Vismaya’s family have welcomed the verdict and said that they are satisfied with the new verdict of the Government. The family members also stated that they had immense faith in the judicial system of the country. Her brother Vijith said that he sincerely hopes that this should be taken as a lesson by all the people who have committed or plan to commit dowry harassment. #vismayacase #kirankumar #terminatedfromservice
