A Right Nice Paddle: Ocean Pond to the Markland Bridge
This is a paddle we did for the first time in July 2020. We started in Ocean Pond & paddled the Hodges River over to the Whitborne Pond Circuit & then the Hodges River again to the Markland Bridge. This paddle is on the Avalon Peninsula within the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. For the most part, this paddle could use a fair amount of water (i.e. spring conditions or lots of rain-we had the later). Ocean Pond can present big conditions and there are a few ledges to carry over and one waterfall to portage on the Hodges River south of Ocean Pond. Some lovely paddling beside bogs, marshes, and boreal forest. Enjoy.
