How To Switch Sides With The Boom Pole Extended - Sound Speeds

In this video I show yet another trick for boom operators. There are many times we're on set and the Director won't cut. This can hurt after a while because you have to hold the pole up with your leading hand and press down on the boom pole with your anchoring (back) hand. If you're outdoors and need to switch sides, no worries - go vertical with the boom and flip sides with it. What if you're indoors or there's some other reason you can't go vertical? In this video I'm going to show you my tricks for switch sides with the boom pole extended. Please note: I highly recommend you practicing these techniques before trying them on set. They require precision and expertise but that won't happen if you are trying to go fast or haven't practiced.
