Coronavirus Updates: PM Modi's Covid Review Meet; Maharashtra & Delhi Crisis; UP Sunday Lockdown

Maharashtra recorded 67,123 new Covid-19 cases, 419 deaths and 56,783 recoveries on Saturday. This was the state's highest single-day case tally since the pandemic began last year. As on Saturday, Maharashtra had 6,47,933 active cases, while 35.72 lakh people were in home quarantine and 25,623 in institutional quarantine. In Delhi, the situation remained grim with the city recording 24,375 new cases and 167 deaths. What is also a matter of concerns is that on Saturday, Delhi had a case positivity rate of 24.56 per cent. In other words, every fourth person in the city whose sample was taken in the past 24 hours, tested positive for the viral disease. In Uttar Pradesh, the Covid situtaion remains grim. It is to be noted that on Saturday, Uttar Pradesh registered 27,357 fresh COVID-19 cases, raising the total tally to 8,21,054. Also, the state reported 120 deaths, its largest one-day toll from the pandemic pushing the fatality count to 9,703.
