This is the day after Valentine’s Day, I’m on my period, and honestly… I was tired. Low energy, low motivation, and very aware that my body was asking for something softer. In this episode of Listening to My Body, I share what I ate, why I chose it, and how I think about nourishing myself during the menstrual phase—without depriving myself or turning food into rules. I talk about: Why I was craving steak and how heme iron supports the body during your period How vitamin C helps with iron absorption Why chocolate can be especially appealing during this phase And how I support my body while still leaving room for pleasure and dessert I also talk about why it’s important to name how you’re feeling during this phase and share that with the people you love—whether that means needing more support, more rest, or less social time. Growing up, periods were often treated as taboo, but I believe we should be able to own this phase, talk about it openly, and honor what our bodies need. Our menstrual phase isn’t the time to hustle, restrict, or perform. It’s the time to listen and support yourself—and that can include good food, pleasure, and rest, without guilt.
