Breaking News: Govt Calls Out LPG Rumour Mongering, Says Energy Supply Secure Amid Misinformation

The Home Ministry has called out what it terms a deliberate misinformation campaign regarding LPG shortage in India. The oil ministry has stated that India's energy supply is fully secure and stable, with no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG anywhere in the country. All retail outlets are operating normally with adequate supplies, according to the government. The government has asked citizens to rely only on official sources and avoid spreading rumours. While there was some commercial LPG shortage earlier, the government has bridged that gap and advised domestic users not to resort to panic booking, as this stresses the supply chain. The government has also advised domestic users to switch to piped natural gas where available. In recent days, India has secured LPG tankers through talks with Iran across the Strait of Hormuz, and petroleum supplies from Russian shores have also reached Indian shores.
