Wetland Vegetation Monitoring

Wetlands ecosystems play an important role in regulating water movement, filtering pollutants and contaminants from the surrounding landscape, as well as providing wildlife habitat. Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) monitors the vegetation along with the birds and frogs in some of our regional wetlands to get a better understanding of how they are functioning and to potentially identify if there are any changes to species composition. TRCA also monitors wildlife species and vegetation communities through biological inventories and at long-term fixed plots throughout the TRCA region.
