The production chain from the egg to the chick begins on parent animal rearing farms, in which parent animals live from their first day until their 20th week of life. The basis for optimum animal health extends over the entire chain in the rearing of hens and cocks, which are kept in separate housings. In the 21st week of their lives the pullets and cockerels are transferred from the breeding farms to the parent farms. This is where the hatching eggs are laid, from which the chicks emerge. The parent animals live exclusively indoors. The parent stock live exclusively in farms where they can move around freely.
