Bill Houghton, founder of the SENSIBLE surrogacy agency, explains your embryo transfer preparation and procedure. this is part 3 of the 'How Surrogacy Works' series. An Embryo transfer is the procedure of placing your healthy embryos into the uterus of your surrogate. The actual transfer itself isn’t complicated, but preparing the surrogate’s womb for the transfer is tricky. It’s where the skill of your embryologist and reproductive endocrinologist really shines. For most surrogates, the preparation of her endometrium is the most critical part of the surrogacy process. The endometrium is the nutrient-rich wall of the uterus that the embryo will connect with to form a fetus. Properly preparing the endometrium takes an artful balance of medications -- dosages and durations. Every clinic has its own “secret sauce” to stimulation, but here is a pretty common example.
