SHEFFIELD | A walk round Victoria Quay Canal Basin in Sheffield City Centre We take a walk round the Sheffield tourist attraction of the canal basin for a look at Victoria Quays, Sheaf Quays and more to see why you should visit when you next travel to Sheffield. From the bars, restaurants and cafes there, to the hotels, the canal boats, boat trips and all the other great features down this part of the city there is plenty to do and it's a very relaxing day out. Victoria Quays is a large canal basin, close to Sheffield City Centre, that heads up the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal. Located on the edge of the Castlegate Quarter, it's a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Perfect on a sunny day, enjoy the waterfront with a drink or a bite to eat from the Dorothy Pax, True Loves and Victoria Junction Café. The quays is also home to a range of events hosted throughout the year including the Sheffield Waterfront Festival in September and a monthly Quayside Market. The Dorothy Pax also regularly hosts live music events. For outdoor city adventures you can follow the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal Towpath from the Quays all the way to Meadowhall and beyond. The 4-mile path takes you through both industrial and rural areas with a number of locks and bridges. Along the way you can enjoy a street art trail with lots of colourful work by local artists and pass through areas such as Attercliffe, the Olympic Legacy Park and Tinsley Marina. The Sheffield & Tinsley Canal Towpath forms part of a longer walking route, known as the Blue Loop, which connects with the Five Weirs Walk. DC Outdoors also offer SUP, kayaking and canoeing experiences which start at Victoria Quays before exploring further up the canal.
