Hidden in the cliffs below Kelsey Head at the far end of Holywell Bay Beach, only accessible at low tide, is the stunning and ancient holy well of Holywell Bay. This once important place of pilgrimage is one of two holy wells here at Holywell Bay, the other being Trevornick Holy Well (a link to my video of Trevornick Holy Well can be found further down in the description) and it is from this holy well where Holywell Bay takes its name from. Dedicated to St Cubert, pools of clean clear water within solid calcium carbonate make up this holy well. The colours here are amazing, and so is the geology. Getting to the actual holy well involves a climb over a few rocks, and then a climb up a very slippy rock face up to the holy well. The holy well is well worth a visit, but it is pretty dangerous to get up close to, due to the very slippery rocks around it and the sheer drop to your right. The National Trust, who owns the site, advises people not to explore it on their own. The well can be easily viewed from below though, however you'll need to watch the tide, as you can easily get cut off, and it will also be worth taking a powerful torch.
