This is the first video in a 3 part series that I put together to explain all the basics of ham radio and the other shortwave radio services like GMRS, MURS & FRS. I also went over some of the realistic ranges you can expect from different types of short wave radios. In the next video I will be going over the differences between these shortwave radio services to give you a better idea about what you can expect from them, and what they require to use them. The 3rd video is this series will explain how to get your technician class ham radio license , and some of the pit falls I went through. I'll walk you through the equipment I started out with, and show you how I upgraded.
