Supraorbital Pain Neuralgia (SON) is common especially with patients who has Thyroid Eye Disease (TED). It’s a pain referred to up to the top of the eye socket. It can be behind the eye, over the brow, or the top of the head. Often mistaken as migraine that doesn’t go away with oral medication. We have seen and managed thousands of TED patients, and we have injected their SON. This video will teach you how to do it on yourself or someone you know who is suffering from SON. Local injections (Lidocaine and Bupivicaine) can be therapeutic as well as diagnostic. Pain after the shots can disappear quickly and last up to a month. Sometimes, the duration is shorter, and pain will recur after a day. Then this is good for diagnostic purposes to know what the source of the pain is. Headache from SON is treated differently than migraine.
