See where WAINWRIGHT'S ASHES are scattered in THE LAKE DISTRICT. 👉 See more Lake District walks in the WESTERN FELLS    • The Lake District: Western Fells   This walk starts in Buttermere village. From here we take the short walk to Buttermere lake before heading through the woods to Red Pike via Sourmilk Gill. After reaching Bleaberry Tarn we complete the steep up to Red Pike. From here is an easy walk across to High Stile with great views. High Crag is our third Wainwright of the day and easy to reach across the ridge with stunning views on both sides. The path down to Haystacks is steep and rocky so watch your footing. However, once this is complete we head over to Haystacks which is the final resting place of A Wainwright with his ashes spread on Innominate Tarn.
