http://www.radacutlery.com/blog/water... Kristi in the Rada Kitchen will show you how to make an easy watermelon fruit salad bowl with decorative watermelon stars. This star spangled red, white and blue fruit salad makes this perfect for 4th of July celebrations. Have fun carving your own watermelon bowl. Video Transcript: Hi, Kristi at the Rada Kitchen and today I am going to make a watermelon into a cute little basket. I'm going to make some watermelon stars and I'm going to serve it along with our flag fruit kabobs. To slice the watermelon I am going to use our Ham Slicer. The Rada Ham Slicer is just the right length to cut through that watermelon. I'll cut it into slices with the Rada Super Parer and then I'll make a decorative edge with our Peeling Paring Knife. So you'll want to cut the watermelon a little above the half. Then lay it on the side. The nice long blade of the Ham Slicer makes it easy to cut through. You want the watermelon half to sit level. You can level it by taking a little slice off the bottom and now it sits real level. Now just cut around the edge with the Super Parer just to the rind. A customer told us how he used an Ice Cream Scoop to hollow out the watermelon, so with the Scoop you can easily cut out serving size pieces. It scoops it out just like ice cream and if you have really hard ice cream, it easily maneuvers that wedge of ice cream right out of the container. It has just a little bit of a sharp edge on it. You cannot bend it; it is very strong so you don't have to worry about how hard the ice cream is. Alright, so scoop this out and save the watermelon. Scoop it out just to the rind. Then for a decorative touch using the Rada Peeling Paring you can start about anyway and cut diagonal slices around the edge. It makes a pretty little decorative edge. Now it did this on the Rada Cutting Board so you can easily bend it and throw away the scraps. Now I'll show how to make the watermelon stars. With the other half, come back with the Ham Slicer and cut the end off. Then measure the next slice according to the depth of the cookie cutter. You want to cut it the size of the cookie cutter. I like the length of the Ham Knife to do this because you can do it all in one cut. Now the easy part is take your cookie cutter and make little stars. Then put them on a skewer. You can make as many stars as you like. I'm going to make three. Then fill the bowl with the watermelon you removed. I made some extra stars so I am going to put those on the top. If you want a red, white and blue theme you can add some bananas and blueberries. There you have what I call a Firecracker Fruit Bowl for any 4th of July Party. It's healthy and it's easy. Rada Mfg.
