Refreshing and realistic .It is based on celebrated Punjabi writer Amrita Pritam’s famous novel ‘DHARATI SAGAR AUR SIPIYAN’and set in simple and unpretentious backgrounds of originality. It is a story of today ‘s who people who often washed away by life’s vicissitudes, nevertheless fight back to the shores of love and hope. Amit is an illegitimate child, born of an assault on his mother. Rejected by the boy’s father ,she now lives with her son,whom she brought up with great difficulty. Amit’s childhood friend Chetna find that crush on him has developed into love for him.Love ,which Amit is unable to reciprocate for he is not prepared to share his for his mother with anybody . ”Not even the girl I love .”He proclaims. “If I cannot live with man I love , I can live with his child .”Chetna decides. One night when Amit ‘s mother is away,she goes to his house, and in a tender moment forces him to sleep with her .Her love is not passion, it is purity of body and heart. Amit dreams in which cheta gets married to someone else and comes to him as a murdress of her husband . He wakes up perapiring and begins to understand the growth of chetna on his system. So as to alienate himself from chetna completely , he call his mother to join him in poona . Time passes . chetna is an art critic now Her child , which people think she has adopted is almost two year old . Amit ,in the meanwhile , has qualified as a doctor , Amma knows that he is reluctant to get married , despite his settled and comfortable life. She senses Amit and chetna ‘s devotion for each other , and persuades him to marry chetna. Soon after their weadding ,chetna tells him that the child is infact his and not adopted as everybody believes it to be. Astounded by the revelation he asks her why she did not tell him this before .She replies “I wanted you to marry, if and when , because you loved me not just because I was the mother of your child.” ‘Kadambari ’ means a long story, and with that a long story, a long wait comes to an end .
