Ongata Rongai resident concerned over a gas plant in a residential area

Residents of Nkaimurunya, Ong'ata Rongai in Kajiado North Sub County have raised safety concerns over a gas plant operating in a residential area. According to the County Spatial plan, the area the plant is located is earmarked as a residential area and not an industrial zone. The locals who convened a crisis meeting said the gas refilling plant operating in a small plot surrounded by rental apartments and residential homes is a ticking time bomb that endangers their lives. They are now calling on the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority and concerned agencies to investigate the operation of the plant, further calling for its relocation.
