BushCampingTools appraisal of a pre production neck knife/belt knife made in Spain. Background for Kick Starter funders: I tested this pre-production model in the field similarly to other models I present here on BCT. This is really a video discussion regarding the design of this product. Overview of Results: I tested the HYDRA Buzzard in the field and this is a brief overview of what I found: Good ergonomics for a small knife; secure and well constructed carry system, easily serviceable stainless steel blade, Cryogenically tempered; Strong blade construction and some multi-functionality via incorporation of metric nut drivers and optional drivers. Ergonomic grip which pressure can be applied without hand discomfort. This is important for the design of neck knives which do not incorporate a dedicated handle (or even for those which do). The fact that a neck knife would be carried and called upon means that probably one has lost their primary knife and that under certain circumstances, the neck knife would be used under tough conditions. Here I've shown it being used to cut palm products (very fibrous and tough) and to carve steel hard seasoned Eucalyptus wood. The knife was also tested for cutting and preparing food.
