TIME CAPSULE: BACK TO 2022, release date for END OF DRAGONS and ENDWALKER. Snapshot: I'm diving deep into the ultimate MMO showdown: Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker vs. Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons. I’ve explored both worlds extensively, and today I’m revisiting my comparison to see how these massive expansions truly stack up against each other in the current gaming landscape. One of the most immediate differences you'll notice is the entry point. Guild Wars 2 offers a free-to-play base game, whereas FFXIV remains a subscription-based model. But cost is only half the story. When it comes to the "feel" of the game, Guild Wars 2 is a high-octane experience that requires faster reflexes and a much quicker gameplay pace. Both games have engaging stories, but the FFXIV Endwalker storyline grabbed me in a way the "dragon plot" of GW2 just couldn't. The characters in 14 stand out more; they feel like real friends you want to see succeed, whereas I found some GW2 characters, like Braham, a bit whiny.
