You are now entering: The Flow State My addressing of another criticism of players doing DM busy work: "If the goal is get the players to do as much of the DM's work for them as possible, why not take it to its logical conclusion and just get rid of the DM and have the players do everything?" Well you can and its called gloom haven. But we dont want to play gloom haven we want to play d&d, so there is a line or boundary between what the players can take care of vs. what the DM has to. And in finding the perfect line between having your players take care of as much as possible while there still being a game lies the challenge.
