The Apatani tradition of marriage ceremony, the 'Taru Tam Moryang Mida 2026' - a Datii Mida (Santi Siipa) was solemnized on the January 24, 2026 at the private residence of Mrs. Taru Tam Moryang near Sillang Ditting Dree Ground, Nenchalya, Hija Village in Lower Subansiri District of Arunachal Pradesh. The Mida was hosted in honour of Mrs. Nako Oppo Muni, her husband Mr. Nako Bida Oppo and their daughter Ms. Nako Oppo Byantung by Er. Taru Tam Dok and Mrs. Taru Dok Aku (Mida Mito) and was assisted by Dr. Taru Ekha Tazung and Mrs. Taru Tazung Rina (Mida Dui Gyogi). The preparation for the Mida was started with gathering of the Taru Kago Yailang (TKY) clans 'Nyahii' (the sisters-in-laws of TKY) on the November 10, 2025 at the residence of Mito wherein they cooked rice for Mida 'O' - the rice beer. In fact, the actual preparation of the Mida started almost a year back with collection of 'Yoh Asoh' - the seasoned and dry back bacon (the back skin with high fat of pig) which is considered a costly affairs in the tradition and culture of the Apatani tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. As soon as the Mida was declared in the last week of November 2025, the relatives and well wishers started visiting the Mito and inquired about the readiness for the same. As days of preparation passed on to stage by stage of selecting 'Takhii' (dried wild Squirrel), 'Yaju' (dried bottle gourd), 'Niijee Yanii' (a wild plants leaves), 'Tajjar Yaso' (a type of rope prepared from wild cane), 'Tapyo' (traditional salt like edible item), 'Maji' (the bell), 'Taloh' (the brass plate), 'Kobyang' (the bracelet) etc. etc., the ultimate day of the Mida was preceded by purchasing of 'Siddin' (the buttocks and stomach of cows/oxen). The 'Siddin' meat cooking and the giving final stage of cutting to the required sizes of 'Yoh Asoh" precedes the ultimate marriage ceremony day of the Mida. As per 'Ditung Potung' (the traditional marriage rules of Apatani) of Hija village, the Mida consists of the following members: 1. 'Mabo' - the Bridegroom 2. 'Barmw' - the Bride 3. 'Iinga' - the child/children 4. 'Anii' - the mother of Bridegroom 5. 'Aba' - the Father of the Bridegroom 6. 'Nyibu' - the priest 7. 'Liibang Banii' - the babysitter 8. 'Gyunta' - the witnesses of 'Mabo Inchee' (2 Persons) 9. 'Liiyi' - the closed relative of Mabo 10. 'Yoh Kanii' - the 'Yoh Asoh' selector 11. 'Akubo' - the maternal uncle of the Bridegroom 12. 'Subu Bonii" - the care taker of 'Subu' 13. 'Mabo' - the Brother-in-Law of the Bridegroom 14. 'Ohobo" - the Son-in-Law of Bridegroom The actual schedules of the Mida reception and departure on the very day of the ceremony are not fixed.
