Hagen Smith the son of legendary volleyball player Sinjin Smith, has been immersed in the sport from a young age. His passion for volleyball began at birth, as he grew up in a family synonymous with the game. Hagen honed his skills through various school and club indoor teams before transitioning to the beach circuit during summer breaks. He attended Loyola High School, where he excelled on the volleyball team, showcasing his talent and dedication. Hagen then took his skills to UCLA, where he played a pivotal role in the Bruins’ volleyball program. Notably, he was part of a 6-2 offensive system alongside Micah Ma’a—an approach that had not been utilized at UCLA since his father’s collegiate years. During his time at UCLA, Hagen not only contributed to the team’s success but also graduated with a degree in 2017, marking the culmination of a significant chapter in his volleyball journey. After college, Hagen committed to a professional career in beach volleyball, joining the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) tour in 2017. He quickly made a name for himself and achieved his best season in 2022, finishing 3rd at AVP Chicago—a significant milestone that underscored his growth as a player. Hagen continues to compete at a high level in the AVP circuit and is widely regarded as a rising star in the world of beach volleyball, following in the footsteps of his legendary father while carving out his own path in the sport.
