Born hemiplegic and nearly blind, Lydie Imhoff, a 43-year-old Frenchwoman, is gradually losing the use of her limbs. Last year, she made the decision to travel from her native France to Belgium to undergo euthanasia, saying "I'm tired of every day being a battle". An AFP team first joined Lydie in March 2023, to meet with a psychiatrist in Brussels. He gave a green light for her to undergo the procedure, made legal in Belgium two decades ago but still outlawed in France. AFP joins her again on her final journey.
