Lanzarote is a stunning island in the Canary Islands with plenty of things to do. If you want to plan in advance, these are our top six things to do when visiting Lanzarote: #1: Visit Timanfaya National Park: incredible volcanic landscapes, a moon-like setting, Timanfaya is a must see for anyone traveling to Lanzarote #2: La Geria: you may not know that the volcanic grounds of Lanzarote produce some of the finest wines in the world, especially white wine. The special weather conditions, mainly the wind and the scarce rain, make vineyards look completely different than anywhere else. Go to the La Geria region and visit a local winery. #3 La Graciosa: It is a small island, around 10 square miles and fewer than 1,000 inhabitants, located a few miles off the northern coast of Lanzatote. No asphalt, no cars (except for some old jeeps owned by locals) and, actually no 21st or 20th centuries either...it has some of the most beautiful islands you will ever see. To get to La Graciosa you need to get a small ferry from the village of Orzola. #4: Late local artist César Manrique, a world class architect and painter, helped redefined the island in the 60's and 70's.
