Second release by project of the Manidoo Gathering collective, title roughly translating to "Distance keeps dark in place, makes a whole in the sky". A release both themed around the Ojibwe star constellations and the starless, unknown darkness of certain regions of the firmament. Still maintaining strong elements of Dark/Space Ambient and Dungeon Synth music, this record delves however much more into Drone and Minimalist territory. Exploring the power of repetition and duration of noisy drones and reverberation and their ability to, over time, with our without slight intonation, awaken new textures and aural senses, almost as creating new sounds that previously didn't exist of ghosts or spirits that look upon you from the distant constellations, Isputinaw still definitely reminisce to some projects of the Voldsom Tapes roster, both aurally as in aesthetic, but now particularly with Astral Order of Impurity and Stapfer, as well as with some of Mons Veneris' Dark Ambient works or Dead Reptile Shrine's "Isth Narai Ja". Still, as the glimmering scintillation of distant quasars or the enchanting trails of shooting stars, some melodic lines permeate here and there through the ominous and numinous walls of sound and tape hiss that engulf the aural space of this release. Perfectly for sinking into clay and loam, as you lie on the hill, hypnotically gazing the night sky. Released on tape via the impeccable Manidoo Gathering.
