For a detailed account of Portreath in the war check out: https://www.philhadleypublications.co... For some great video of RAF Portreath during World War Two check out: • RAF Portreath During World War Two Portreath is a small village on the north Cornish coast famed for its harbour, tramway, railway, beach and surf. However in the summer of 1940 it was considered vulnerable to invasion by the Nazis. This video looks at what remains of the wartime defences dotted around the village. Filmed in June 2011. Can you help solve the mysteries raised in the video by adding more detail to what is known about the defences? Did you or a relative serve on the defences at Portreath? Do you have any wartime photographs of Portreath? If so please leave a comment. The music featured is I Get By by Charlie Kunz, We Must All Stick Together by Geraldo & His Orchestra, How Deep Is The Ocean by Peggy Lee with Benny Goodman and The White Cliffs of Dover by Vera Lynn. Thanks for watching. Please check out my other videos of World War Two sites in Cornwall. For two great adventures set in Cornwall during the war check out my novels "No Small Stir" and its sequel "A Place And A Name" which has a short scene set in Portreath in the spring of 1941: https://www.philhadleypublications.com/
