Tokyo Listening Bars: Bar Martha and Bar Music

Japanese Listening Rooms and Jazz Kissas are wonderful spaces where people come to actively listen to music and conversations are kept at a low volume to facilitate the listening. Some of these spaces are cafes (no alcohol), some are bars serving beer, cocktails and spirits. To me, these listening rooms capture the “romance” of sitting at a bar listening to music and maybe, just maybe, talking music with the master (often the owner who is selecting, nay curating, your listening experience).
