Townsend Ma 4-alarm Fire February 4 2019

30 residents were displaced at this fire at 48 Fitchburg Rd. Fire was dispatched to the Pine Ridge Estate condominium complex just before 2000 hrs. Fire alarm notified company's that PD was on scene with a fire. First arriving from the fire dept, reported heavy smoke showing. The fire appears to have begun on the 2nd floor and quickly spread up to the top floor and cockloft. 21 of 24 apartments were occupied and all residents managed to escape. About 100 firefighters from numerous communities were called from Mass to NH to fight the blaze for more than 4 hours. The towns water system couldn't keep up so they drafted from nearby Squannacook River.
