The West Highland Way, July 2023

The West Highland Way is a roughly 96 mile walk from Milngavie (just north of Glasgow) to Fort William. Many walkers will choose to hike Ben Nevis to cap off the walk since that's the biggest mountain on the British Isles. We spent 8 days on the trail and were amazed at the beauty of the highlands. The rugged mountains and valleys, rivers, lakes and wild flowers had us consistently in awe while the ever changing weather kept us on our toes. We used the gpx files from the Cicerone Press West Highland Way Guide Book and the Gaia GPS app but the trail is extremely easy to follow. Given our hike was in July we were concerned about the infamous midgies so we opted to stay in Pods and hotels.
