I am a resident of Temecula and have a deep interest in all things firefighting, especially when it comes to wildfires. I have an app on my phone called “Watch Duty” which is an app made specifically for monitoring wildfires. I have all notifications for the app on, meaning I get the most recent updates on fires in my area as soon as they’re released. I also get notifications if a new fire starts in my area, which is ultimately what led to this video being made. I got a notification of a new wildfire that had begun in my area at around 3:50 PM on July 6, so seeing that it was in my area I obviously opened it to see where it was. And to my surprise it was not even 2 miles away from my house. The moment I saw where it was I rushed to get ready and was out my front door speeding towards the fire within 2 minutes. I was the first civilian on scene, the rest of the people belonged to the Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department. Within minutes after my arrival, cars started pouring in to see what was happening. 20 or so minutes after that multiple trucks carrying ground crews and 2 bulldozers arrived to help combat the fire. Overall, this was quite an experience considering the potential loss of homes, how close the fire was to my home, and how close I was able to get to a wildfire for the first time in my life. I hope you guys enjoy the video. - - - The Frogs Fire was a 33 acre brush fire located in Temecula, California that burned for just over one day. The blaze began at approximately 3:45 PM Pacific time on July 6, 2023. The origins of the fire at this time are unknown, but appears to have started in an old barn in an open field. The barn had a significant amount of dry brush around it and when the barn caught on fire, the surrounding brush caught on fire not long after. At its height, the Frogs Fire had 30+ vehicles on scene, and the vehicles consisted of anything between aircraft, fire engines, water tenders, hand crew vehicles, etc. The blaze was fought hard for around an hour and a half. Once the forward progress of the fire was stopped, all efforts after that were to mop up and contain the fire. As of 4:49 PM Pacific Time on July 7, 2023, the Frogs Fire is mapped at 33.9 acres and 100% contained.
