Do you like to develop your own software for Linux, but want to have a dedicated test environment to check install scripts or procedures, and don't want to have to start from scratch on every test? In this video, we are going to make it as easy as rebooting the Pi to discard any changes that we have made using the Overlay File System (overlayfs) option in raspi-config. We will start from basics using Raspberry Pi OS imager to create an SD card that we will use, and then boot for the first time and configure the OS the way we want it. We will install a number of programs to have by default that we don't want to have to install every time. We will then map our user directory to a USB 3.0 flash drive so that we can save our files and work between reboots, and then turn on the Overlay File System option and test it all out. This is a great way to create a consistent environment for development and will provide the ability to perform much more comprehensive testing, but like always, it is something you can change to your needs and do for yourself, if it all works... #notsponsored
