After 6 days and 6 nights of empty tries, thousands of diverging conjectures, and more than 500 wipes and... Nah. I'm kidding. I just didn't enjoy that much time to attempt this one because of real life work :p Well, I somehow got blessed with One-hand weapons last reclear (Shek'zeer and Gara'jal!), and managed to ascend from 2H to Dual-wield, yay! That aside... Heroic Ragnaros is ... quite a hard-tuned encounter, for the current levels of gear. And I mean it. Having hit the enrage and died from blatant survival a handful of times, it is a very well balanced compromise between a DPSrace, and a difficult Survivalcheck. On top of that, add the tricky execution ... and you end up with a really fantastic cocktail most would undoubtedly fall in love with! Now, on the downsides of Heroic Raggy, if I had to give one? Ehhhh... 18 minutes is long. Like. Really. Terribly. Frustratingly. Long. Even more so when each subsequent phases (aside from P2) add yet another layer of difficulty to the previous ones. There is much to say, and little to say at the same time, for the video speaks for itself. Lots of micro-tuning and vengeance optimizations whenever possible, while bordering on Death's door threshold at times. Intermissions which are not only played in terms of maximizing Vengeance, but also to grasp precious additional seconds on the enrage timer here or there. A first phase which cannot allow more than one destack, for staying away from the boss without doing anything isn't worth it, in terms of DPS loss. And even from playing from 5 meteors to 4 meteors, and then from 4 meteors if 4 frost paths to 4 meteors in 3 frost paths... Yup. So much to say, indeed. If one thing is sure, it is that the current version of Heroic Ragnaros is a nerfed one, compared to Normal difficulty which wasn't nerfed. In fact, playing the original version would have been nowhere near remotely possible (I think it was 78M HPs, instead of 63M? Yikes...). Now, although the attempt in itself isn't perfect (and it is possible to play more aggresively with stacks in P4 although extremely dangerous for little returns), it remains clean enough overall (right? You didn't see me getting thrown off the platform by this meteor whose nameplate was hidden by that giant hand and synchronized smash — seriously happens on every Heroic Ragna kill for whatever goddamn reason!). Overall, I wouldn't put Heroic Ragna on the same scale of difficulty as Heroic Cho'gall, but maybe one to two notches below (actually, at the same gear equivalency, Heroic Cho'gall should be easier). ilvl: 499. Number of attempts: 25 (pretty low considering I demonstrated quite a solid consistency here, overall).
