She saw The Sky fall after being struck down by The Shadow, an event all clan cats knew of well. However this time she noticed something else. The Sky fell like a shooting star beyond the mountains and made an impact on the earth. Cricketsong delivers this news at a gathering. She proposes that all five champions should journey together to find where the sky fell. The reactions are mixed and uncertain. Why should they send their champions to help skyclan? Unexpectedly Smokewhisper, the champion of The Shadow steps up to greet Ebonysky. He accepts the task and encourages the others to do the same. The Windclan champion Leafstorm was chosen while still in the nursery with her two kits. Torn between her duties as a champion and her connection with her children, she’s forced to say a tearful goodbye as she leaves them with her clanmates. With no idea how long she’ll be gone for, she prepares to return to meet two much older cats and mourn the moons she’ll miss out on. Ebonysky of Skyclan, Smokewhisper of Shadowclan, Stellarfeather of Riverclan, Leafstorm of Windclan, Roseburn of Thunderclan. The five of them set off on the tense journey ahead. Ebonysky finds herself struggling to connect with her companions. She attempts to speak with Stellarfeather, assuming he should be her closest ally as their clans are allied. However he swiftly brushes her off in seeming disinterest. She finds herself unexpectedly finding a friend in her most likely enemy, the shadowclan champion instead. Stellarfeather misses Riverclan quickly. He wants to be home healing minor scrapes and teaching apprentices how to swim. Instead he’s haunted by The River and her vengeful grief. He’s hyper aware of her anger flaring at the sight of the Sky champion conversing with a cat of the Shadow. The Sky was her mate and she was killed by The Shadow. Stellarfeather knows she wishes he were a warrior. Her powers do not benefit the life of a warrior therefore she always gets a medicine cat, but it seems she’s trying to twist that and raise him to be as blood thirsty as she feels. Stellarfeather has been fighting this command ever since he was apprenticed. He will never unsheathe his claws. The skyclan champion will not be his responsibility. The journey will take many weeks. It will be challenging both physically and mentally, but they have the power of gods guiding them through. Hopefully that’s enough…
