Redwoods National and State Parks Located with the Prairie Creek State Park area, this loop trail is definitely one you shouldn't miss. The trail is actually a loop, at about 1.5 miles. You can start along the forest trail or head right up the canyon. I like to start right up the canyon. The views are just amazing as you walk through a canyon where the walls are lined with ferns. The Lost World Jurrasic Park 1997 film had some scenes filmed in the canyon. You need a permit that can be obtained online from mid-May through mid-September.
