Fly fishing and camping for Giant Gourami, the Red Kaloi, in the jungle rivers of Borneo - the most intense dry fly fishing in the world. 9wt rods, 4/0 hooks, 60lb leaders and you can't let the Kaloi take an inch of line to have any chance of landing these hard fighting fish in the fallen-tree filled jungle rivers. In 2023, Austin V Kane and Eric Petzel began an obsession with dry fly fishing in the jungle for Red Kaloi. In 2024, we returned with “Reptile” Robb Herrington and Ryan McGinnis (filmmaker) and we endeavored to capture the essence on film. RAJA KALOI was an official selection of the Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T) 2025, premiering last year in Atlanta.
