This video is a comprehensive tour of Keith Stamper's On3 model railroad. He discusses his long history of building layouts, how he decided to make a model that combined aspects of the Rio Grande Southern (RGS) and the Colorado & Southern (C&S), and shows us each detailed scene. He also provides a five-minute video at the end that lets you see the trains running, and imagine how much fun an operating session would be. On3 refers to "O scale" and "3-foot gage" railroad modeling. One interesting feature of his layout is that he used only "dead rail" battery-powered radio-controlled locomotives. This allowed him to dispense with any track wiring or gaps in his trackwork, the only wiring being for turnout control motors and building lights. His presentation was the first in a series of layout tours, clinics and vendor presentations that are being planned by a group of avid narrow gage modelers around the world calling themselves "National Narrow Gage" (NNG.groups.io), and we have started this series of presentations called "Off the Beaten Track" to capture layouts located in remote areas that are not likely to be included in future in-person model railroad conventions that may occur after the pandemic is over. The video was recorded during the first Zoom meeting of the National Narrow Gage group, held on December 8, 2020, and edited by Burr Stewart. Keith is introduced by Mark LaChey.
