In many Indigenous Australian traditions, life is understood through the spirit of the Dreamtime—often called The Dreaming—a timeless realm where the land, the ancestors, and all living beings are connected across past, present, and future. From the Dreaming we come. For a while, we walk the earth. We are visitors to this moment in time— learning the language of the wind, listening to the stories written in rivers and stones, loving one another, and caring for the land that carries us. While we are here, we follow the footsteps of those who came before us, and we add our own verse to the ancient song of the world. And when our journey here is complete, death is not simply an ending. It is a quiet return. The spirit goes back to the Dreaming, back to the ancestors, back to the great story from which it came. Home is not only a place we build in life— it is the timeless source that holds us all. As the old wisdom reminds us: We come from the land, we live upon the land, and in the end, we return to the land. So our passing is not a disappearance, but a homecoming— a gentle return to the eternal circle of life. May this thought bring a small measure of peace as we remember and honor the life of someone who walked among us for a while, and whose story will always remain part of the great song of the world.
