Annette, vocalista do grupo IDEAL no inicio dos anos 80, importante como parte da Neue Deutsche Welle, as irmãs Annette e Inga Humpe fundaram em 1985 o duo Humpe & Humpe. Escreveram e produziram a maioria das músicas lançadas em seus dois álbuns, o último em 1987. O single de maior sucesso foi "Careless Love" que alcançou 24º posição nas paradas na Alemanha. Enquanto as irmãs eram conhecidas como Humpe & Humpe, descreviam nos álbuns o nome original Inga & Anete Humpe. A dupla também era conhecida como (Swimming With Sharks) "nadar com tubarões" na Inglaterra, provavelmente devido ao potencial das conotações sexuais do nome Humpe em Inglês.
