1. Former Seitoku Junior High School In Kyoto's Kamigyo Ward, along Takatsuji-dori Street, stands the former Seitoku High School, famous for its "Harumeki" cherry tree. Bukkoji temple In 1212, Shinran, a Japanese Buddhist monk began to develop the teaching of Shin Buddhism at a hermitage in Yamashina (eastern part of Kyoto). This hermitage was the origin of the present-day Bukkoji Temple. It was named Koryu Shoboji Buddhist Temple. In 1586, Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI (samurai warlord who worked successively toward the unification of Japan by force), transferred the hermitage to the current place. Takasegawa Created for transporting goods between central Kyoto and Fushimi, the Takasegawa Canal is now a beloved destination for cherry blossom viewing.
