An engine that rarely sees the limelight on the L&HR is Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST 'DAVID'. Having first arrived in 1978, the little Barclay has made a niche for itself among the larger Haverthwaite residents, being used for off-peak services, pilot duties, and double-heading the annual Santa-special trains. Due to it's small size, David is limited to three coaches. With the usual number of coach tours meaning that even the smallest trains are at least four coaches. As such, the opportunity couldn't be missed to finally film the diminutive Barclay, having returned to service from a 5-year-long overhaul only two year prior, and once again in lined maroon livery. Admittedly, having not filmed anything for a good number of months, some of the shots are far from perfect, and some shots had to be cut as a result, but hopefully you're all happy with the final result. A little history: No.2333 was built at Kilmarnock at the Andrew Barclay Sons & Co. works and delivered to the Millom Ironworks on the River Duddon estuary in Cumberland in January 1953. After being sold privately for preservation it was sent to Steamtown, Carforth in 1971 where it was nicknamed David and steamed regularly at weekends to haul passengers. On being resold to the Walker family of Millom, it moved to the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway in March 1978.
