50 years it took to get these figures! I am so grateful to NECA for the shark and the Quint and Hooper! They rock! And, I include a special project figure about midway in, that rounds things out, so ENJOY! For how I did it, click MORE! The Surprise figure was a lot of work, and a lot of money to get parts! Once upon a time, the parts were cheap. But, now that so many collectors are after this one, and the recipe (NOT first put together by me, but by other crafters on YouTube!), the parts list is getting rare and expensive. But, the end result is well worth the hunt, and the final, though tiring, efforts to complete. The body is from the NECA Blade Runner 2049 Deckard figure, minus head and arms. The arms are from the NECA ALIENS Bishop figure, probably either intact or torn apart Bishop would do. The head is from Wee Prints on Ebay. Look 'em up and think 1/10 scale for the 50th Anniversary release line, or 1/8 for the clothed, larger figures. The chum bucket I used a container lid my wife had, and a ladle she had handy. It pays to have a wife that makes 1/12 dollhouses that collects all manner of parts! To make the arms fit the body, one must transfer the inner arm swivel posts, reinforcing might help with some thin rod or wire, and exchanging the Deckard arms posts for the Bishop ones. They just go into the slots better. Since Brody has his watch on his left arm, I removed the wrist watch from Bishops right arm, saving the face and area, carving away the band and sanding down the damage. It was pretty easy. I then made a band with thin pleather, and glued it all in place on the left arm. Painted the details as needed, gold rim, white face and glossed the face. As for colors, the boots are black with white grey rims. I trimmed and sanded down the laces on the Deckard boots and they worked fine. Painted the pants a mix of dark blue and black (Vallejo) and the inner shirt black. The "loose" outer shirt I painted sky grey, right out of the bottle. Again, all Vallejo paints. Gloves came with the NECA Hooper, and I repainted them slightly darker grey than the shirt, mixing some black with the sky grey to darken, then trimmed the rim with sky grey. See stills from the "Need a bigger boat" scenes for reference. The head was the final bit. I trimmed out Deckard's inner neck connector, and put it inside the resin head at the right depth. Requires a dremel, time, and patience. And lots of testing. Otherwise, it's tanned skin tones, dark eyes, dark metallic glasses and black and brown mixed hair. I used Burnt Sienna to blend the hairline and to help give him a tan. And that's it. The legs are not perfectly balanced, and you have to find a good pose to set them evenly, but that comes pretty well. Be careful taking the legs off the Deckard as one connector fits inside the other inner leg connector, making it tough to rework. Lots of bad words and time, but I got it all back in place. How easy two sets of ball joints or leg pegs would have been! Did some repainting on Quint, minor stuff, suntan and more red, for "drinking" redness and took time to better trim hairlines. Same on Hooper, but less red. He had freckles, but it is tough to do this small. Took the glasses off Hooper, and did what I could to two of the four heads. All in all, a tough, but fun project. And one I hope to never do again! No more Brody's! Once was enough so please do not ask me to "Go through that hell again!" To quote ole Brody from Jaws 2! LIKE! SUBSCRIBE! COMMENT! There may be one more JAWS themed video, after I see the movie again in a theatre on August 29th, so stay tuned! Les out
