I don't understand why Kate Miller-Heidke is not way more famous at this stage... She is a stunning vocalist who has done many creative and beautiful things in her career. The songwriting is special and unique, plus she can sing anything, in any way she wants to. I particularly love this more mainstream pop song of hers, "Caught in a crowd", for a number of reasons. Firstly it tells a real story from her own life; a relatable story of bullying and her wrong response to it at the time. Now, looking back on that story, which obviously stayed with her form many years, she realises how she could have done better. A beautiful and honest take on the realities of life. Secondly, I just think it is such a well written pop song, in every way. The melodic patterns, the way the lyrics often flow over the bar-lines, her excellent way to convey the story. Just great.
