Week by week, the mileage is climbing — and ultramarathon training is officially in full swing. From December 15–21, I ran 50 total miles as part of my build toward the Squatchapple 50, a 50-mile ultramarathon in New Jersey on March 7, 2026. The goal is simple, but not easy: finish under 9 hours. This week focused on consistent volume, back-to-back medium-long runs, and a longer Sunday effort to start preparing my body for sustained time on feet. Ultra training isn’t just about one long run — it’s about stacking fatigue intelligently while staying healthy enough to keep showing up. Here’s how the week broke down: Monday: 6 miles — controlled start Wednesday: 7 miles — aerobic rhythm Thursday: 6 miles — steady and relaxed Friday: 8 miles — fatigue resistance Saturday: 8 miles — back-to-back stress Sunday: 15 miles — long run, time on feet At this point in the build, the focus is durability, efficiency, and consistency. Every mile is teaching me something — pacing discipline, fueling awareness, and how my body responds as the volume increases.
