Sonny James - Young Love - 1956

"Young Love" was released on October 12, 1956 by Capitol Records as catalog number 3602. It first reached the Billboard chart on January 5, 1957. On the Disk Jockey chart, it peaked at No. 1; on the Best Seller chart, at No. 2; on the Juke Box chart, at No. 4; on the composite chart of the top 100 songs, it reached No. 2. On Billboard's country music charts, it was a No. 1 hit for nine weeks, and remained the longest-reigning of Sonny James's 23 chart-topping songs on the chart. Billboard ranked it as the No. 8 song of the year for 1957 . It was wrote by Ric Cartney and Carole Joyner. Here is what Sonny James says about "Young Love". "As a favorite I don't have a favorite record but for sentimental reasons only “Young Love”. Because it's the first time that I had the feeling of being almost in a dream. And whatever I would have following that was reliving that dream again but more familiar with it. The first time I don't know how to explain it. It was almost like in shock to have something that you have done and here I am from Hackleburg Alabama though I lived away from there but that's still home. You think back, well this can't be happening to me 'cause I was born in North Alabama and this just can't be happening to me. I'm not used to this. This is for other people. I just never...it was awfully hard to believe that something that I was involved with would be that popular."
