The provincial, value-based procurement of implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices was the first of its kind in Ontario. In this video: • Jeff Healey, Director of Arrhythmia Services at Hamilton Health Sciences, discusses why clinicians should play a role in value-based procurement. • Linda Flockhart, Clinical Director, Peter Munk Cardiac Centre at University Health Network, discusses benefits to hospitals when they participate in a value-based procurement process. In this value-based procurement, Plexxus, a leader in Canadian health care supply chain services, collaborated with the Ontario Ministry of Health, CorHealth Ontario, and Ontario's 12 ICD Implanting Centres to design and deliver a value-based procurement process, one that ensured notable benefits for patients while helping solve health system challenges.
